A New Interface for iCopyright's Instant Clearance Service

For the last few quarters we've been laboring over a new version of iCopyright's flagship product, the Instant Clearance Service. The good folks at Blink Interactive did a usability study and came up with two big improvements which have been live for a few months now.

The most obvious difference is a new look and feel for the licensing toolbar itself, which allows users to purchase licenses for content they find on the web. The old version was certainly functional, but the new look is both slick and easier to use, and the users love it.

The other great improvement is a new article tools implementation. In the past iCopyright has always left it up to the publishers to render the licensing hyperlinks appropriately, using whatever design aesthetic they prefer. While flexible for the publisher, users don't recognize the iCopyright tools and don't know the same great services are available. So Blink came up with a new look and feel for the article toolbar, which is now rendered automatically via a javascript fragment hosted at iCopyright's servers. Here's an example:
