A Drupal-based website that lets employees of Los Angeles area firms sign themselves up, browse for perks, and purchase tickets.

Their Challenge

The client, a private California-based company, provides a free employee discount program for firms in the LA area. With their Great Work Perks card, employees can get discounts on restaurants, amusement parks, theater tickets, and so on.

Great Work Perks had an existing website with a simple database of perks and newsletter subscribers, but the look of the site was outdated and the system rudimentary. Data could only be added, not edited or deleted, and new pages had to be crafted by hand in HTML. Customers could purchase tickets online through PayPal's simple web payments product, but they could not use credit cards and often contacted the company for assistance.

Our Solution

Ideograph worked hand-in-hand with graphics design firm Swayed Creative to design and implement a replacement system at very low cost.

The content management system Drupal was chosen to host the site because of its extensibility and multi-site hosting capabilities. New content types for perks, employers, employees, testimonials, and press references were created, and existing data automatically transferred. Several custom blocks were written to allow browsing for perks in different ways, and for advertising new or particularly valuable perks. Ubercart provides the eCommerce features for the site, including the ability to purchase both physical and electronic tickets with credit cards. A full custom theme, for a sleek and professional look, completed the package.

Finally, Ideograph managed the migration of the old site to the new, at a new hosting provider, and provided several hours of instruction and screencasts to train Great Work Perks insiders in the use of the system.
